The 'planting' of fake palm trees near the 'Istana' at the Concorde junction near the Menteri Besar's residence in Shah Alam makes the city look cheap. Where did the municipal's landscape artist receive inspiration to put up such an eye-sore in front of most prominent buildings in Shah Alam?
Not so long ago I read in the Star that the people of Rawang protested these fake plants in their township. Are the people of Shah Alam going to allow our money to be used for such a wasteful project?
Even in desert kingdoms they do not 'plant' fake palm trees. Surprisingly, the pedestrian walk along Pesiaran Kayangan is at the same time dug up every 10-15 metres to accommodate fully-grown palm trees. Beside taking up the pedestrian's walk, these trees are so close to the road that they are hazardous to road users. Remember the falling palm trees along the Damansara to TTDI highway a few years ago?
The municipal council should be smart enough to use taxpayers money to beautify the other parts of the municipality. Enough has been done to the road leading to the Menteri Besar's residence.
