If A Malaysian's letter 'Anwar is history' is a reflection of the general attitude of our voting public, it bodes ill for us all.

Anwar Ibrahim is history only if we, as a consensus, consign him to this by not exercising our rights to speak up and protest, especially through the ballot box. The greatest threat the government faces, and it is not terrorism, is that you and I vote for the opposition. An apathetic voting public would suit them fine.

What is wrong if Keadilan bases its battle-cry on Anwar? After all, it is not about him but what he stands for and, with his continued incarceration, what our government is all about.

I think that we Malaysians by and large have a strong self-preserving streak; we will only rock the boat when we are sure that it is to our advantage.

Why not emulate the spirit of adventure of our former PM and be more outward and innovative in our thinking. Perhaps a much brighter future is just around the corner.
