Keadilan should focus on Selangor
Which party should lead Barisan Alternatif in Selangor? To be realistic, there is no way BA can win in Selangor but there is a big possibility that BA can wrest a few more seats in Selangor.
I am surprised at PAS' intention to lead the opposition in Selangor. How can a party with the intention to set up Islamic country be allowed to lead in Selangor, which is very much a multiracial state?
Admittedly, Keadilan is not as organise compared to PAS but there is no way the Chinese and Indians will be comfortable with PAS. For the sake of increasing opposition seats in Selangor, Keadilan should be allowed to lead.
Before the sacking of Anwar Ibrahim, PAS was basically a nobody in Selangor with its candidates losing badly. PAS must remember that those who voted for them in Selangor were Anwar Ibrahim's supporters.
As for Keadilan, they must play their cards well or they will disappear from Malaysian politics after the general election. Up until now, Hulu Kelang state assembly representative and Keadilan veep Azmin Ali seemed quite firm in insisting that Keadilan lead Selangor.
I would not be surprised if key personalities such as Azmin, Youth chief Mohd Ezam Mohd Nor, vice-president Dr Badrulamin Bahron and Parti Keadilan Rakyat deputy president Dr Syed Husin Ali winning in Selangor, not to the possibility of its president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Ruslan Kassim or even Saifudin Nasution contesting in the state.
But first of all, Keadilan should try to get as many winnable seats as possible in Selangor such as in Sabak Bernam, Shah Alam, Kota Raja, Kapar and Gombak. Keadilan may even propose to nominate Wan Azizah as the next menteri besar if the opposition wins Selangor. I am sure this will attract a lot of support for opposition from across the races.
