I am a regular traveller between Klang and Seremban. On three occasions I was stopped at the junction to Nilai by policemen, alleging that I broke the speed limit.
I was told to 'cooperate' and 'settle' the matter. I had no choice but to pay. Why? On the first occasion, I tried to reason with the men, telling them that in all my 35 years of driving, I had never gone beyond 90 km per hour. Also, my old car will vibrate if I go anything beyond 80 km per hour.
Since they insisted I had gone beyond the speed limit, I said I was willing to accept their summons. But they said 'no'. I was told instead to 'cooperate' and 'settle' with RM50, or else they will find some dadah in my car and I will face a deadly crime!
What else was I expected to do? Pay up, of course! I thought that was only one bad experience. But, during two more trips to Seremban in the last two weeks, I was stopped by a bunch of men in uniform at about 11:30am at the same junction into Nilai.
They recognised me and offered me a RM10 'discount' this time, so I had to pay them RM40. Now, I dread driving on the highway! I not only fear being bankrupted by these corrupt men in uniform but also that one day, they might plant some dadah in my car.
I hope the Anti-Corruption Agency will go undercover and catch these corrupt men in uniform. They always have a roadblock at the Nilai junction from the late morning until about 2pm. Even if you do not speed, they will still stop you. Please do something about our highway robbers!
