The press is going on and on about the opposition's "inability to ensure a straight fight with BN". I think this is utter nonsense. There are hundreds of seats being contested, and I for one do not expect that every seat can be a straight fight.

Take Penang for example - there are 53 seats being contested, and out of that, 48 seats are straight fights! Even there, one of the three-cornered fights is due to an independent candidate. Surely, this represents the success of inter-party negotiation and give-and-take. It shows the maturity of the opposition parties, the ability to compromise and to forge an understanding in the face of overwhelming odds and in the face of BN's scandalous accusations, advertisements and onslaught in the press.

This election, like every election before this, is not a fair fight. We all know that. I for one am proud of what the opposition parties have achieved up to this stage and I will vote for them without hesitation.
