I wish to share my views on the issue of minority communities' representation.

It is sad to note that minority communities in Malaysia are always at an disadvantage because they do not have numbers. In Malaysian politics, race is a major factor whenever major decisions are implemented and if you are from a minority community you have little say or no say at all.

It is time for the authorities concerned to give due attention to the voice of the minority communities in the country. A good start will be the setting up of a Ministry for Minority Affairs with the interest of all minorities communities in the country as its main role.

In fact in 1979, this proposal was made by Melaka's Portuguese community. This new ministry will surely help the development and preservation of all minority communities in the country.

The interest of minorities must be given serious attention because it would be a great failure if they are left unattended and are left to disintegrate in the near future.

It would also help if the authorities would consider appointing minority community leaders to the Malaysian senate.
