So the people of Kelantan have spoken - 49.3% voted for BN and 47.3% voted for BA. However, the Kelantanese have decided to keep the PAS government by giving them 24 seats with the remaining 21 being presented to the BN.
As such, neither PAS nor the BN had won, it was the Kelantanese who won outright!
The message to both sides is clear. To PAS it's a wake up call, either you reform or the next time we'll kick you out. For the BN, yes, we heard your promises of jobs, a university, development etc. but we didn't want to outright give you control of the state government lest you fail us as you did once before.
BN now must walk the talk and bring most of your promised developments to show that you are serious and have not only come for your glory.
For PAS, you are reminded to fully serve the people's agenda and not your own party's agenda. The common people have suffered enough, life has been difficult, employment virtually non- existent for graduates and many other things. These are bread and butter issues - people need to live.
Now that the Kelantanese have made their choice, both PAS and BN should do their part. Both will now have no choice but to serve the people. Both must now implement their development programmes for Kelantan. The Kelantanese will be watching - any party which slacks will not be around after the next polls.
I must say that the Kelantanese have matured in this regard. Bravo, you Kelantanese, you have shown all Malaysians how to benefit from the political game and how to get politicians to give their best to you.
First you voted for PAS (from 1959 to 1978), then you kicked them out and tried BN (1978 to 1990) but kicked BN out after 12 years. Now after 14 years of PAS rule, you have made a wise choice of retaining them but at the same time issuing a wake-up call.
If BN had won with a simple majority then the Kelantanese would not get any benefits because as an opposition party, PAS would not have any resources to offer.
But now, you have put both of them to work for you. In the final analysis, the Kelantanese won, not PAS or BN.
