It is interesting to read the views of various parties on the matter of the National Service programme. I would have thought though that there really is now no longer any need for this so-called National Service.

The National Service came about because some bright politicians (and notably one mega-politician) decided that it was needed as many in the country seemed to be going against the government.

Well, the recent elections show that this was not the case. What was the case was that the people in the country had had enough of the previous PM and were rebelling against him.

Now that he is retired, the electorate seems to have swung back overwhelmingly to the government. That being the case, why waste all this time and money, from both a government's and individual's perspective, on the National Service now?

Isn't it amazing what one man can do?
