Don't blame the media on NS
Our deputy prime minister and defence minister has the gall to blame our meek and toe-the-line media for writing negatively on the beleaguered National Service programme. Please Mr Najib, this is unbecoming of you as a minister.
Everybody knows half-baked NS was implemented just because Dr Mahathir Mohamd called for it before he retired and he wanted the credit of having a created 'racial unity' programme.
With all the problems that have cropped up, I wouldn't at all be surprised if a parent with a daughter in the NS programme decides to take his daughter out. Would the government arrest him? What if this parent took the case to the courts?
Wake up, Mr Najib and do your job. We the Malaysian people have given the BN its biggest mandate in history. Don't blame others for your ministry's failure. How could the government prepare and implement a successful NS plan in less than a year?
And whatever has happened the Rakan Muda programme? I never heard of it after its launch. Was that a scheme for cronies to make money through advertising, supplying T-shirts, caps etc.?
There same news report also said that a NS camp commandant and a few of his fellow trainers walked out because they were not paid their salaries. On reading further, I was shocked to read that they were to be paid by a body called Institut Kepimpinan Wawasan.
As a tax payer I would like to know whether this 'institut' is a government organisaton or a private corporation. If it is a private company, I can only conclude that some hanky-panky is going on.
Why can't the government pay the trainers directly? Somebody is getting their 11.5% cut along the way. Like somebody said , the NS is not about unity building but about wealth building for some cronies.
Will Pak Lah please look into this and give all Malaysians a satisfactory answer?
