I am perplexed with the recent comment by Awam. Why is it that they only make comments when things like murder trials are reported in the media? The media reported what was said in court. And they reported them correctly. Even malaysiakini published a report along similar lines.

As a woman, I think Awam should be more concerned about the reason why Norita allegedly behaved in the way she did. Her alleged sexual activities, if true, went beyond the norm for a Malay, a Muslim and perhaps even a human being. With due respect to a dead person, her alleged acts disgust me and many other women.

The media reports are not sensationalism to me. But they do highlight a real problem within our society. A problem that Awam has failed to address and a problem that Awam is trying to sweep under the carpet.

Awam should start thinking about what have they done to prevent this kind of behaviour among Malaysian women. They should think about how they can help solve social ills among the young girls of Malaysia.

Please Awam, are you trying to sweep things like this under the carpet under the pretext of media sensationalism? Are you trying to change the topic? The actual problem is moral ills among girls. Not media sensationalism.

If you do not recognise this, then stop calling yourself as 'all women's' group. I am a woman and I do not feel that you represent me.
