As one who saw fit to invest in Malaysia's future in the stock market on account of Dr Mahathir Mohamad's positive 'Malaysia Boleh' rhetoric, I must confess I found WSP's letter concerning the allocation of some 280 million Southern Bank shares to 19 super-privileged bumiputeras - who are magnanimously given a second bite of the company's cherry by buying the company's shares at a 44 percent discounted rate - most disturbing.

As I understand it, some of these virtual lottery-winning beneficiaries are directors of the company. If so, what these directors appear to be doing is helping themselves to the company's coffers to the tune of megabucks at the expense of their shareholders. Surely, this can't be what company directorship is all about in Malaysia?

Transparency and good governance aside, surely it is time that the identities and the good fortunes of the other 15 nameless beneficiaries are revealed to all concerned?

After all, justice, as they say, has not only got to be done, it has to be seen to be done.
