He goes on to say that other criteria such as leadership ability etc, are more important in assessing a student's aptitude towards a career in medicine.

But the point here is whether these other criteria were applied when the students were admitted.

He is also 'appalled' at how the benchmarks in medical education are being compromised. But if the only benchmark is being Malay, then his argument doesn't hold much water and we are back to 'racialising the issue'.
