The DAP, I feel, has every reason to be upset with the SRJK(C) Damansara's SOS fund-raising dinner committee.
All the years I have been following the struggle of the SOS Damansara committee to have their school reopened, I have never come across any Barisan Nasional member supporting its cause.
All this while it has been DAP members who have been championing the committee's cause at the risk of being detained by the authorities. SRJK(C) Damasara, to me is an outcast in the eyes of MCA and Gerakan.
I really admired the school's pupils who have to study in containers which have been converted into makeshift classrooms. They really are tough and patient under such trying conditions.
I was also full of admiration for their parents and the SOS Damansara committee for their unwavering stand on seeking their rights.
But after reading your report that the SOS Damansara committee had invited a Gerakan assemblyman to give a speech at their fund-raising dinner instead of a DAP leader, my opinion of them has plunged to rock bottom.
How could they sacrifice their principles just for a meagre donation from the Gerakan assemblyman? Their goal was far more noble than just small donations.
I strongly feel that the SOS Damansara committee owes an apology to DAP and also to the many others who stood by them through thick and thin.
