It gave me much satisfaction reading the news headlines today as well as the family's elation on Hanif Basree being freed of the charges of murdering Noritta Samsudin.

Anyone with intelligence would have realised that the evidence was not there to even arrest Hanif in the first place, let alone charge him.

This is another example of our police ineptness and our prosecutors' poor abilities. As a result, a man has lost six months of his freedom.

The police had not been thorough, arriving at major decisions based on half facts. At best their evidence was circumstantial, at worst it was fabricated like the security guards' testimonies.

Anyone who has talked to any of these condominium security guards would realise that most of them lack even the ability to give directions to the car park. And these guys were giving evidence in a court of law?

The prosecution was hell bent in showing Hanif in bad light for after all he had sex outside marriage so he must be guilty. What a bunch of losers.

If one is to see the Noritta murder trial evidence in hindsight now, one would know that it was totally inadequate.

I think it is time a British-style prosecution service is introduced here where police evidence is first vetted to see if they are sufficient and can stand up in court. And prosecution should be handled by true blue hardcore lawyers who have gone through the litigation nightmare

In closing, perhaps the police were very confident that they could convict Hanif as Anwar Ibrahim was convicted with far less evidence. Thank god, this judge had a little more sense of fair play.
