I am equally flabbergasted with Mu'az Omar's comments as the writer says he was of Dr Chandra Muzaffar's remarks about the United States wanting to colonise Malaysia (and other nations)

Speak for yourself Mu'az when you claim that Chandra '... has let many people down by his emotional arguments'.

On the contrary, I think all Malaysians should be proud of having such a brilliant thinking political scientist whom we can call our own who dares to speak up - without fear or favour - against Western imperialism and hegemony.

Quite frankly, I think that Chandra belongs in the same respectable category as Dr Mahathir Mohamad when he spoke out about the heinous hypocrisy of the US and the way in which it handled terrorism, Iraq and Palestine.

Not a day goes by today when these two great men - and countless of other great minds who have spoken out against the West - are being proved right with all the latest and shocking revelations about Iraq and its so-called possession of 'weapons of mass destruction'.

Heck, even Americans themselves are running their own administration down with the current Democratic Convention being held in the US right now where US President George W Bush is being denounced for his foreign policy and for going to war with Iraq.

Having said all this, I can understand why Mu'az is being so defensive about America - it's hard to see one's hero fall. Like Mu'az, I too, once believed that America and everything Western and white was immaculate.

However, thank God for people like Chandra and others for now the wool over my eyes has been removed and I can see things much clearer.
