Having read the report Muftis declare TV3's Sure Heboh carnival haram , has it now come to the point where television shows will be the next to be put under the scrutiny of the Council of Malaysian muftis?
Where do we, as citizens, draw the line for these organisations? Do we, as citizens, have the right to say: 'No, we are not going to accept your religious and political comments because Malaysia is a multi-racial society'?
Yes, Malaysia is an Islamic state but is not like Iran and like other hardcore Islamic states. We are not going to stand by and let these muftis impose their laws and ideals against what the majority wants. How does the 'Sure Heboh' carnival become 'detrimental to our own race' and how does it 'weaken our thinking'?
Maybe it's time for these muftis to migrate. Malaysia is about progress and development. These muftis are all for another Iran and another backward civilisation. Islam must be respected together with the rights and ideals of all. The ideals of these muftis are from a past and we cannot be associated with them now.
It's time for Malaysians to put their foot down and say 'no', we are not going to let these people determine our future, and what is morally right and wrong for us as adults.
