Rape is rape. To force anyone into sex is considered rape in any civilised society. Jeffrey's letter reveals that he is still operating in the dark, Stone Age. His total disregard for human rights is appalling.

Yes, women are also humans. They have the same right to physical and mental integrity as any man. All Malaysians should be ashamed that they live in a country were one of the worst crimes are allowed against certain individuals. It speaks volumes of what kind of society Malaysia is.

Jeffrey seems to be confused in his own selfish opinion by saying: 'When a woman marries a man, she is deemed to have given blanket consent to sex with her husband (without violence).'

Why without violence? Rape normally involves violence. So if violence is involved, is that against the 'blanket consent' Jeffrey claims to exist? Then what? What if sex is forced against the wife's consent with the use of violence? Tell me what breach of consent is this? I can spell out the answer with four letters: r-a-p-e.

And tell, what if the law requires a man and wife to be separated for a number of years before divorce is granted. Can a man just knock on the door of the new home of his wife he has not seen for two years and force her into having sex with him against her own will? Yes, according to appalling and selfish logic Jeffrey subscribes to.

And for him to say that young men will not marry if women are protected against rape in their marriage is completely laughable. Most countries in this world have laws protecting women from marital rape.

And no Jeffrey, don't you dare say that this is a 'Western invention' because this is a basic human right, also applying to us Asians too. Remember Jeffrey, just like women, we Asians are also humans.

Your duty as a husband according to the contract of marriage is to love and protect your wife. If the you can't protect her, then the law should. And that's why the Malaysian government should impose laws against marital rape immediately.
