I'd like to comment on the role of our Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. I would like to say that he's the best prime minister this country has seen so far.

I'd like to commend his strong efforts to show Malaysians and the world that he is ready to fight corruption and clean up the malaise in government agencies, such as the police department.

I'd also like to acknowledge that Abdullah has made all Malaysians feel included, regardless of their race, religion and status. For example, in his national speech to the country on Merdeka, he said something to the effect that he wished to see 'all Malaysians' be the best they can.

I also refer to his speech when tabling the 2005 Budget in parliament when he said: 'I am determined to ensure that every rakyat will be able to live in peace and harmony, regardless of race, religion and status. This is my aspiration, my objective and my pledge to you'.

This is evidence that Abdullah is an inclusive prime minister and understands the Malaysian psyche really well. He tries to reach out to every section of the community regardless of race, religion, creed and status.

I don't remember the former prime minister, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, ever mentioning anything about non-Muslims in his official speeches. Dr M was sincere in helping battle the evils in society and the developing world, but he missed the opportunity to acknowledge that non-Muslims also played a significant role in this great country of ours.

I hope that many in the political arena will follow the example set by Abdullah and help achieve a better Malaysian society for all.
