It has quite amusing to see the statements by the supporters of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak desperately defending and justifying the ‘donation’ of RM2.6 billion that went into the prime minister’s personal account.

According to media reports, Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has said that he has personally met the representative of Middle Eastern donors who, according to him, want Umno and Barisan National to continue to rule the country. He said they were helping BN because the governments commitment to counter terrorism and maintain Malaysia’s status as a Sunni country.

Is this the reason Malaysia took the side of Sunni Saudi Arabia against Syria in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) conference that was held in Malaysia? Is it not true that the anti-Shiite feelings among the ruling Umno elites and those religious extremist aligned to them have links to the theological religious elites in Saudi Arabia?

If this contention is true, Malaysia is in very interesting terrain of being a client state of a hegemonic power. It has been well-known that the Gulf States led by monarchs from Saudi Arabia are strongly anti-Shiite and had played a prominent role of destabilising countries like Syria and Yemen, and creating proxy wars in the region due its strong aversion toward the influence of Shiite Iran.

It is also well-known that that the Gulf Monarchical States are basically under the influence of the United States and their actions indirectly benefits Israel due to their common vision to see the link between Iran, Syria and Hezbollah are destroyed, due to the perception that they are the axis that opposes the dominance of Israel and Sunni Arabs in West Asia.

If one connects the dots it is obvious that Malaysia is basically used by this countries for their own sectarian agenda.

The Umno-led government who seem to pride itself as a strong supporter of the Palestinian struggle, have been deceiving the people of Malaysia for a long time by aligning themselves to Arab regimes whose actions indirectly benefits Israel within the context of the grand design of hegemonic powers such as the United States.

One wonders how the so-called great Islamic struggle against enemies of Islam has mentioned by an Umno leader of Johor could materialise by being aligned with a hegemonic power that have basically created chaos in fellow Muslim countries. This shows the unethical nature of certain Umno leaders who continue to deceive the people when they have no concrete argument to provide against allegations of corruption.

Therefore it is time that Ahmad Zahid to come clean on the nationality of those donors of RM2.6 billion, and reveal how this affects the foreign policy direction of Malaysia. It is the first time in the history of the nation that such a large amount of money could end up in the personal account of a sitting prime minister by a foreign donor that seems to have an agenda.
