I am very perplexed. The police tell us a bunch of citizens walking the streets of KL tomorrow intend to topple the government. That is indeed curious.

Millions of people walk the streets of KL every day, I am sure. The government has never been toppled. It just so happens tomorrow, they intend to walk as a group, wearing the same colours and singing a common theme. Groups of people have been known to go out to KL wearing the same colours before. The government has never been toppled.

To be more specific, 250,000 of these allegedly traitorous Bersih supporters walked the same streets in 2012, and many times since. The government has never been toppled.

So I wonder if the police could be a little more specific. How are the aunties, youngsters, makcik pakcik and all going to go about toppling the government armed with only yellow T-shirts and some posters?

In fact, more people are expected to gather there on the eve of Merdeka Day, and each year at New Year’s Eve, the same place is flooded with thousands of people walking around together, singing the same theme. The government has never been toppled then, either.

It seems strange that the government has such an extreme Bersihphobia this year. As they say, this only happens to those who have fear in their own hearts, fear of secrets only they know. One who is clean and brave, just and righteous, never needs fear anything nor anyone, not least a bunch of Aunty Bersihs.

So what exactly do the police think will take place tomorrow that can potentially topple the government? That people will beat down Putrajaya’s walls with posters and umbrellas? That they will drive the government out of their offices (Putrajaya is kilometres away, there is nothing in Dataran except grass and tourist buses).

Hardly, the ministers will be at their weekend golf games or whatever, I venture. It would be quite hard to drive Najib out of his PM’s Office too, as he would probably not be at work but somewhere shopping or having a good time with his beloved family. In any case it would be hard to find parking there.

Somehow, I can’t work out how they will topple the government tomorrow. I’d be rather amused if they actually managed to do it. Wouldn’t you?
