Bersih 4 folk did not raise communal issues
Unable to answer the demands of Bersih 4, some Umno leaders are hitting below the belt to accuse Bersih 4 of being a racist event by the Chinese. The huge crowd of people were Malaysians rallying on Malaysian issues such as Clean Elections and Clean Government.
Even if the majority were Chinese, they did not raise communal issues, not even Chinese schools! They did not touch on royalty, religion or race!
During Bersih 1 and 2, there were fewer than 20 percent Chinese taking part. Were they ‘Malay’ ralles? Now that the Chinese have shown their activism, the numbers may have overshadowed the other races. In absolute numbers, the participation from other races was not much less, as the total number who took part in Bersih 4 is more than the earlier rallies, with estimates of about 200,000.
The non-cooperation from PAS could have reduced the number of Malays but yet the number of Malays increased on the second day. Even 20 percent of the total crowd would still be about 40,000 Malays.
If the Umno-sponsored counter-demonstration was to be carried out, I doubt that there the non-Malays talking part would be more than 5 percent!
Bersih 4 is a rallying call by all peace-loving Malaysians!
