It is indeed good news for Rohingya refugees that they are to be granted refugee identity cards that will enable them to seek education and employment in Malaysia.

That said, I wonder if other Muslim and non-Muslim asylum seekers and refugees could also be granted this same compassionate measure and that their refugee status given by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) be similarly recognised.

The new Malaysian policy seems to favour only one particular group over others when in fact, all refugees in Malaysia face the same abuse of their human rights.
