I would like to congratulate the government on the new era of fully digitalising television using satellites for broadcast.

All Malaysians will enjoy a free digital television broadcast beginning next year which will be managed by MYTV Broadcasting Sdn Bhd.

As a Malaysian, I would like to say this is the new development of media in our country. From the development of media in Malaysia, it will bring our country to the same level as other countries.

Now, citizen of Malaysia will have free access on television services which is digital TV and the whole nation will get reliable news, with no barrier on getting information and news.

This development also have pros and cons it. The nearest competitor for digital TV is Astro. As we know, Astro has develop in Malaysia since 1996 and it was the first pay-viewing satellite broadcaster in our country.

In my opinion, Astro may lose their viewers and customers after free digital TV is introduced next year. People may consider closing their Astro accounts when they have an option in getting free access in watching their favourite channels.

So I hope that the development of new and free digital TV will give a benefits to all nation in our country, and I hope it will give a positive impact to our society and give access freely without boundaries.
