I am very disappointed with English-educated intellectuals who dare comment on phasing out Tamil schools . Perhaps they pride themselves on coming out with such a noble idea on uplifting the Indian community in Malaysia.

Progress of a community has nothing to do with a language. By phasing out Tamil schools, you are paving the way for the demise of a beautiful language.

I am a Tamil-educated Malaysian who is now living in New Zealand. I owe my progress and success in my life largely to my Tamil education background. I cannot forget all my Tamil school teachers who first showed me the path to progress and growth.

I have gained a lot by learning Tamil and I am very grateful to my parents for making the right decision in sending me to a Tamil school. I am sure there are a lot of Tamil primary school educated Malaysians who will agree with me.

Why don't we all focus on how to improve the Tamil education system in Malaysia? Malaysia is proud to advertise herself at the international arena by saying that we are truly Asian. It also means that we are all proud that most Malaysians can speak a number of Asian languages.

No community in this world has flourished by destroying its origin, identity and language.
