It is absurd to lay all the responsibilities for a child’s education to the government. Education must be supported by both the community and the government.

From my observation, nowadays parents are busy with their work and do not take an active role in their child’s performance in school. It is not an easy task for parents to maintain and balance their role between working demands and domestic chores. Thus, they will put all the responsibilities to educate their children to the school and teachers.

In addition, if their children do not academically perform in school, it is easier for them to blame other parties such as the government not providing good facilities in school to assist the learning process. However, the truth is, if the parents do not put any other efforts to help their children in gaining knowledge at home, they aren’t helping at all. Thus, parents need to give full commitment to their children in term of activities and learning facilities at home.

Instead of pointing the fingers at one another, why don’t we as parents reflect back to ourselves and ask do we care about our children’s education? Parents must play an active role in helping their children’s education because education is fundamental to everyone in order to improve a person’s quality of life and to have a better future generation.
