AirAsia will be delighted with the setting up of a budget airline terminal in Subang at the expense of taxpayers money.
While Malaysia only has a single budget airline - albeit an extremely successful one - Thailand and Indonesia have four and five respectively. But they don't have a specially assigned airport to cater to for the stiff competition among their various low-cost carriers.
Perhaps AirAsia should bear the cost of refurbishing and 'restarting' the little used Subang airport as a budget airline terminal as AirAsia will probably be the sole or among very few low cost airlines to use it.
Taxpayers should not be asked to subsidise the business strategy of a private airline.
