The organiser for Malaysia Top Business Excellence Award 2016 (MTBEA) supports the disclaimer mentioning that it is a non-political and public accredited award, contrary to unsubstantial rumours.

This explanation comes in light of a statement released earlier to refute the Penang state government's involvement in the event’s Grand Awards Gala.

The organiser, MY Business Excellence Sdn Bhd (MYBE), maintained that MTBEA has always been a non-political, private event. The honourable personalities invited to grace the event are selected sans their political inclination.

MYBE Director Jeffery Lau explained that the misinterpretation of the organisers probably arose from a mismanagement of invitation procedures.

Lau also apologised for any inconvenience caused to the state government.

He further assured that we held this event with the simple intention to acknowledge the public's advocacy of excellent products and services provided by these luminaries.
