Mother Natures sacred retribution
December 26, 2004, a day filled with anguish and awe;
Heaped upon many and more, sans warning filled with gore;
Unto families on beaches galore, upon villagers in abode secure;
And fishermen in boats demure, tourists in spots of fame before.
Commencing in depths so deep, quake triggered waves so steep;
Traversing ocean with speed, gaining momentum in bounds and leap;
Causing tide at beaches to recede, encouraging locals not to retreat;
Heaving waves akin stampede, obliterating all in carrying its feat.
Whole towns devastated, all villages in its path similarly afflicted;
'Egality' truly accentuated, Westerners and Asians all affected;
Government, rebels also suffered, wealthy, impoverished equally pummeled;
Could it then be averred, 'tis Mother Nature's way of retribution sacred.
Incident was rather abnormal, to most who suffered abysmal;
Used to quake occasional, ne'er to huge waves so phenomenal;
Sans warning systems to signal, of impending disaster quite dismal;
Whence on other side 'tis normal, for alerts sounding prior impact actual.
Innocent children main victims, of catastrophe so pitifully grim;
Whole families perished in a whim, unsure of whence they sinned;
Whole abodes disappeared from scene, 'twas much akin;
To the impact of an A-bomb so obscene, annihilating all without a din.
Can we plead to humanity, to come forward and ameliorate calamity;
In whatever small capacity, that each of us can perform with ability;
Donate in cash/kind with generosity, alleviate sufferings of victims pitifully;
Let's abandon all animosity, team up together and assist in sincerity.
If there's a lesson to be learnt, in this episode so tragically violent;
'Tis we ought never be complacent, against calamities infrequent;
The wrath of Almighty effervescent, only He decides time of incident;
Let's be more humble and reticent, be more thankful and less indulgent.
