First it was the Malacca state government taking everyone and everything but the kitchen sink on a trip to the US - a thinly disguised attempt for a holiday at the taxpayers' expense.

Now we learn that the Public Accounts Committee of Selangor (a committee that is supposed to check unnecessary spending by other state agencies) wanted to go to Egypt to visit the country's parliament.

Whatever for? In the first place, do they know how our parliament works? Apparently not, as the PAC is supposed to save and safeguard our money - not waste it.

Perhaps a visit to our own parliament and to the Prime Minister's office will do them more good instead of being chased down the shores of the Nile River by Egyptian crocodiles.

Will this wanton show of contempt for taxpayers ever stop? Will the government once and for all issue a directive against these type of activities? Please.

It is even more despicable when while part of our nation is still suffering from the recent devastating tsunami, these 'clever' people are wasting taxpayers funds overseas.

It is a real joke.
