The Jabatan Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (Jawi) unholy tryst at the nightclub bears the signs of the highest form of hypocrisy usually exhibited by those who believe that they are the rightful guardians for upholding God's so-called law.

And unfortunately, we have heard enough of these types of incidences involving most these so-called religious guardians.

The things that they did - such as not permitting the detainees to use the washroom, ordering a woman to lower her hands from her chest, commenting about her nipples, asking the women to 'twirl' just to get a good look at them, herding them into cells like cattle into a packed pen (reminiscent of Nazi Germany) - all goes to show that these perverted high-handed moralists in Malaysia have now matched the bullying tactics practised by the extremist hardliners of Iran and the Taliban.

What is more, it was quite apparent that the Jawi officers were having fun, perhaps having been deprived.

If such a crass incident can happen when the Barisan Nasional is holding the reins of the government, I shudder at the possible consequences in the event PAS comes to power.

And as another writer put it, what will those with influence and power do now? Say their piece to defend the innocent or zip their lips?
