I'd like to say a few things in reference to Maarten Hoogesteger's letter Rationality and the Islamic mind .

Elsewhere on the Internet (thank you, Google!), Hoogesteger gives a solution to the question of how to fight Islam. Take a look here .

For Hoogesteger, the Muslims' hatred toward the West is irrational. But of course, his hatred for Muslims is rational since he is presumably a Westerner. Please note how he essentialises Islam and Muslims ('the Islamic Mind,' or 'Muslims' collective mind') as if all Muslims think in only one way.

Anyone who reads malaysiakini's letters forum can clearly see the diversity within the Muslim discourse.

Rational exchange, which is what malaysiakini hopes to foster I believe, is welcomed by many Muslims, contra to Hoogesteger's deeply biased letter.

Poorly disguised hatred is already causing too many problems in this globalising world that we all share.
