PDRM have to be firm with Bersih
Street demonstrations are not the way to show your frustration, Persatuan Aduan Rakyat (PAR) Malaysia president A Chandrakumanan told reporters after chairing its monthly meeting in Segambut today. There is always an option available and we should not allow our emotions to be controlled by others and allow them to take advantage for their political benefits (especially the opposition).
We have seen in the past that the organisers took the opportunity to bring the people to the streets and took advantage of the situation which then became ugly. We have seen how members from PKR and DAP behaved, which reflects badly on the overall people who participated in street demonstrations.
PAR Malaysia does not see the reason for having this street demonstration by Bersih at this point of time. People have lost business in the past, the country had lost considerably in direct foreign investment previously due to such demonstrations held by Berish in the city. This also goes to show that they have ulterior motives behind this demonstration and what they are planning is dangerous and could cause riots among the peaceful citizen.
In the name of democracy, they cannot disturb the peace of others for their political gains, said Chandrakumanan.
It is not our culture to step and urinate on our leader’s pictures, this have happened before and this could spark the anger among these leaders supporters where the situation could become uncontrollable.
In the past the organisers did not want to take responsibility for such acts and keeping this in mind, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) should not issue any permit which could danger the peace and harmony of the majority in country.
PDRM should not hesitate to arrest anyone involved in this demonstration and those instigating others to take part.
A CHANDRAKUMANAN is Pertubuhan Aduan Rakyat (PAR) Malaysia president.
