I refer to some statements by the opposition which claim as if I had said last year’s Bersih 4 participants were not more than 1,000 people.

For the record, I have never made such a statement. Any person with facts in hand would know that last year’s Bersih 4 event was attended by more than 1,000 people. In fact, it was estimated to be more than 50,000 people.

On the contrary, I have stated clearly in my press conference (Sept 17) that there was an event supported recently by Bersih called ‘TangkapMO1'. This demonstration was held last month on Aug 27, 2016 with less than 1,000 participants.

The press conference on Sept 17 was to clarify whether Gerakan Youth’s offer to provide a stadium for Bersih 5 on Nov 19 was still valid, in which we answered in the affirmative.

I understand the needs of the opposition to try spin any words on my part. Perhaps, their needs arise even more as the opposition pact is getting more chaotic while the general election is nearing.

However, I urge the opposition to be fair and be more ethical in their political strategy.
