It is absolutely a fitting tribute to the usefulness and the efficiency of our MPs that their level and quality of debate has finally brought the roof down at the Parliament House. I have only previously heard of rock bands and football teams who have managed this sort of honour.

I say fitting as the just-ended session saw some extremely important national security and economic issues being discussed such as about female MPs being still single and the clothing line of airline staff .

Besides this, our honourable MPs behaved like a bunch of hooligans shouting at each other which, as we all know, is crucial to preserve democracy.

And let's not forget the most important issue that got the full attention of two ministers - no, not corruption, not globalisation, not education, not rising costs, not public transport, not the 9th Malaysia Plan. It was the April Fool's prank by malaysiakini .

It is ironic that the Parliament which is supposed to look after the interests of all Malaysians and prevent the misuse of power in governance cannot even protect its own roof from shoddy workmanship. This was an area right under their nose.

It is therefore fitting that Mother Nature vented its fury on the House, probably speaking for the rest of us.
