Malaysia and peace seem to be two different entities

The Budget 2017 themed ‘Accelerating Growth, Ensuring Fiscal Prudence, Enhancing Well-being of Rakyat’ has been announced to the rakyat.

Now, how does a country become able to accelerate growth unless the people strive for it? We keep emphasising on growth and we tend to forget what life is all about. The rakyat are urged to do secondary jobs to cope with the expanding livelihood here. But doesn’t that imply this country is getting poorer?

First of all, does the government even give importance to the physical and spiritual growth of an individual which leads to a peaceful life. Budget 2017 might have given more importance to healthcare development. We are building more hospitals but we hardly have a nice recreation park for relaxation.

We are surrounded by concrete jungle and real jungles are virtual now. Before anything else, do the rakyat have time for relaxation? We are running after money and we rarely allocate time to rejuvenate ourselves. We are living a robotic lifestyle and yet the government is boasting about the well-being of its people.

I have seen many middle-income earners who are looking for additional income day and night and they don’t have time to sit together with family for dinner. Where are we heading to? Let us think when was the last time we went for a holiday?

Well-being here stands for a holistic lifestyle which comprises of being comfortable and happy. Happiness cannot be computed only by money. Where can one look for piece when the crime rate of country is on the rise?

Malaysia and peace are now seem to be two different entities as we are so used to bare livelihood and slowly forgetting what happiness means. The rulers, too, seem to have forgotten this, sadly. I, as a rakyat Malaysia, demand peace in this country as I am so sick and tired of a machine lifestyle.
