I totally disagree with Zainab that 'Islamophobia' is the cause for non-Malay students not being sent to national schools by their parents.

Phobia means irrational fear. What did Zainab have to fear attending a Christian missionary school when:

a. There are legal prohibitions preventing non-Muslims from converting Muslims to become non-Muslims, and

b. The bulk of the Education Ministry is staffed by Muslims who oversaw the administration and funding of these missionary schools.

Such protections are not afforded to non-Muslims students in national schools. Who is to shield them from overzealous Muslim teachers or administrators who use education as a tool to proselytise to non-Muslims?

Can we then now say that the fears of non-Muslim parents are 'irrational' given the lack of protection afforded to non-Muslim students?
