One yellow shirt
With a simple word
and a few desires,
Yet so much depends on it.

Feared and banned,
Vilified and scorned
by those afraid to walk in the light,
It sprouted and grew,
And grew,
And grew.

A simple shirt
Bright and gold,
Worn proudly by young and old,
Reflected hearts that have long ached,
Waiting for a country that could be great.

Just one yellow shirt
Seeking to heal what is torn,
Engendering a child yet to be born
who is neither yellow black nor brown.

So much depends upon
A simple yellow shirt.
