I would like to comment on the letter Remove prohibitions on Malaysians visiting Jerusalem .
It is worrying that some sectors are attempting to cement the post-1967 version of Israel ie, that all of Jerusalem belongs to Israel and that Jerusalem is the undivided capital of Israel.
The fact is, at a historic UN General Assembly vote, more than 150 countries condemned Israel's building of a physical barrier (reinforced concrete wall) to separate Jews from the Arabs as the structure is not based on the borders drawn up by the UN.
The Al-Aqsa mosque situated in East Jerusalem is not on Israeli territory and this is the opinion of the whole international community with the lone exception of the US.
The Malaysian passport does not permit travel to Israel, not Palestine. I have not heard of any Jews in Malaysia being denied a permit (correct me if I'm wrong) to visit the Wailing Wall situated in West Jerusalem.
It is unacceptable for any quarter to exaggerate the claim that the Al-Aqsa mosque is somehow situated in and belongs to Israel. The Malaysian passport allows Malaysians to visit the Al-Aqsa mosque and only Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian cabinet have the right to determine whether Malaysians can enter the Palestinian state.
