Wont drug addicts share their free needles too?
I, too, do not agree that drug addicts be given free needles and condoms . Apparently this exercise is to control Aids but surely the government can see that it will encourage drug addicts to continue taking drugs, this time at the expense of the taxpayers.
If some of this drug addicts are caught using these free needles, wouldn't they have a valid defence for their crime in that the authorities allowed them to do so? And what is the guarantee that these users will not thereafter share their free needles with those not supplied with them?
As for he free condoms, who is going to monitor their use? Is the Health Ministry going to set up a 'clinic' to see that the condoms are actually being used? Addicts who need money might even sell these 'gifts' to others.
The government should seriously consider and study the suggestion of isolating confirmed Aids patients not unlike the scheme once used for leprosy patients which worked well. Don't waste tax payers money on this stupid plan.
