Marking International Women’s Day 2017, some thoughts that were penned down by me for reading pleasure.

Faith comes in many forms
A search for kindness that transcends
The only truth that ever matters
Irrelevant are the rest without it.

A mother’s love is beyond compare
The folly of many who have tried
And of more for emulating.

Struggles are never ending and rightly so
For it is that which gives any meaning
Like energy that never withers
It finds you again the moment it is over.

Go towards that which is peaceful
Just by being, just by smiling
Any other direction, a mask there must be
Pretending and false are all that you will be.

When you lose your mother,
You lose.

Remember those battles that go on in your head?
Where the good guys tell you not to
And the bad guys say it is fine?
And then remember how you had
Already made up your mind?

Why ask when you can steal?
Why steal when you can ask?
Which is you?

Find that crossroad soonest
Push yourself to make that decision
For almost always when we do reach
The body has taken too much of a beating.

You cannot forcefully bring a feather to the ground
You have to gently guide it down with your palm
Just like a woman’s heart
Gently.

Think of those who have been your constants
Whom you know in an instant
Unwavering pillars yet gentle in their stride
To be to you what you had always required.

And yet in the hustle of life
Taken for granted as many things are
Realisation comes only thus far
So sit back and ponder who are your constants.

In loving memory of my late mum.
