It is indeed strange that the prime minister and Umno President Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has inexplicably endorsed the Umno disciplinary board's fast-track decision on party vice-president Mohamad Isa Abdul Samad , which in my mind went against the tenets of natural justice.

More so, when there are claims that there are others who could be guilty of the same offence he was.

More inexplicably, between the pronouncement on Isa and a final verdict after his appeal, before the man has had an opportunity to put up his defence, he is asked to resign from all posts.

While we support actions against corrupt leaders, may I ask what was the Umno disciplinary board's haste finding Mohamad Isa guilty? Is the board not worried that a 'miscarriage of justice' may have occurred considering the manner in which this issue has been deliberated and addressed?

If Isa succeeds in his appeal process, will those who found him guilty resign from all posts they hold in order to maintain whatever integrity is left in their high office?
