If I recall correctly, it was Pak Lah who called Selangor Menteri Besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo and reported to him on the incidents of open burning in Sepang recently. Where was the enforcement team of the Department of Environment?

Malaysians are made to believe the cause of haze was open burning in Sumatra. What about the rampant open burning in our own backyard? How will Malaysia react if Thailand blames the Malaysia government for the haze currently blanketing southern Thailand at the moment?

Surely the cause could be open burning being done in our own backyard!

It is reported that even though a ban on open burning was issued, the DOE directors in some states still issued approval for open burning, for example at Ladang Bestout in Behrang, Perak.

Why issue a ban in the first place then?
