The letter Demolition of old Subang airport unnecessary has my full support and concern. Why on earth should a serviceable building be destroyed other than for some financial claim against the government, insurance or for paying off debts?

The Subang airport building was in good working condition. We made a blunder by moving the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 70km away. So that we could pay more tolls and burn more fuel to get there. Not to mention the time wasted in a vehicle.

We spent another billion ringgit or more so that a fast speed train (quarter filled most of the time) could get use there just a little faster. Of course, that is now history.

Still, Subang can be utilised to the maximum. First, stop the demolition of whatever buildings left at the airport. Secondly, stop development around the airport. Housing projects should not be there in the first place.

In fact, many illegal factories mushrooming in Subang seem to get greater protection from the state government rather than the interests of over two million people living in the Klang Valley who needed a nearer and easier to reach airport.
