LETTER | Dear Malaysians, I understand that some people are still unable to accept him. Love him or hate him, he has admitted his mistakes on many occasions in his own way. You can't expect your 92-year-old grandpa to say sorry to you, right? When you know that your grandpa hurt your feelings, do you expect an apology from him? Out of respect, no, right?

I may not agree with some of the policies implemented during his time and the draconian laws which he continued after inheriting them from his predecessors. However, despite all of his so-called 'wrongdoings', at least he broke his silence and admitted it.

Unlike many other politicians, Dr Mahathir Mohamad has lowered his ego by admitting his mistakes. How many politicians out there are gentlemanly enough to admit their mistakes? The most they can do is to divert the issue.

Please remember, he didn't ask you to forgive him. All that he asked from you is to bring this country to the right track. Don't you want to do the same for the sake of our beloved country?

Just because you hate him doesn't mean that you prefer to see BN to govern this country for another five years. It is an unwise decision to allow BN to continue dismantling our beloved country just because of our personal vendetta towards Mahathir.

Giving BN another five years means that you are the one who's destroying this country. Giving BN another five years means that you are the one who refuses to bring Malaysia to the right track.

Yes, you may have said that he created the 'monster' and the 'demons', but allowing BN to rule this country for another five years means that you are creating more 'monsters' and 'demons'. The only way to destroy the monster is to let the creator do it (like in the science fiction movie of Frankenstein)

Would you rather cast your vote for BN instead of Pakatan Harapan just because you hate Mahathir? Would you rather suffer for another five years under Najib just because of your personal hate towards Mahathir? Would you rather live with economic disparity, racial tensions, religious extremism, and the high cost of living while billions of taxpayers money go to the corrupt politicians?

If you want to blame everything that's happening now on Mahathir as a result of his 22 years of iron fist rule, why don't you blame God for creating Adam and Eve for us? If it wasn't because of Adam and Eve, we would not suffer like this, am I right? Think again!

If you blame Mahathir for all of these miseries, why don't you blame your parents or your family members who voted BN and the Alliance since 1957 (in Malaya) and 1963 (in Sabah and Sarawak)? If they didn't vote for BN, Mahathir and Najib would have never become our prime minister. 

If you can't think for yourself, can you just please think of our next generation? Come on, Mahathir is getting old and running out of time to be with us in this unfair and pathetic world. When his time has come, we will have to continue our journey here for the next 20 or 50 years.

And if you keep thinking about your own ego, well, you will suffer, not Mahathir. He has done his part. How about you? Would you be willing to put aside your super-ego for the future of our country?

The choice is in your hand.

Together, let's make Malaysia great again.
