SM Mohamed Idris ( 6,000 road deaths a year and still no inquiry? ) has some good points but has neglected one very important one, the repair shops.

On one trip to Port Dickson, our brakes failed after having them checked the same day in a reputable shop in Kuala Lumpur. The repair shop in Nilai proceeded to repair the damage and used inferior grease in the rear brake drum which later turned rock hard while we were doing about 100kph on the highway to Port Dickson.

I managed to maintain control of the car as one back wheel locked completely. And we happened to have some water to throw on the wheel hub to cool it down as it was smoking and looked ready to erupt in flames.

Were the people who worked on our vehicle truly qualified to do so? How to know?
