Have better roads to reduce accidents
I refer to the article Continuing carnage on our carriageways .
For the last few decades of our country's development, the amount of money spent on building roads has not been adequate. The death rate from road accident on modern tolled highways is much lower than that of truck roads.
It is no point pointing to drivers as the cause of accidents as while the number of vehicles has increased, the building of roads by the government has been limited. It is no surprise that the number of deaths on the east coast of Malaysia and other rural roads are high as some of these roads date back to the time of the British.
Compared to the amount of money that had been wasted on projects that bring questionable benefit to the public; the pontificating by our politicians on good driving and habits are only good for the ignorant.
