Corruption: Malaysia has long way to go

I refer to the article A story of corruption and police abuse .
I'm deeply distraught over the treatment the writer received in the Pudu jail. My heart goes out to him.
I grew up in Malaysia in the early 80s. I got fed-up with the inefficiency, the corruption and the discrimination. I decided to call it a day, packed all my things and sought employment in Singapore.
But after many years of working, memories kept flooding back to me about my enjoyable and laid-back childhood days in Malaysia.
That is, until I came across the sad and unpleasant story above. Nothing has changed - Malaysia still had a long way to go.
