LETTER | The last general election (GE14) was a shockwave to all Malaysians as the more than 60-years ruling party BN was toppled by a 93- year-old man, hats off to him, Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

What are the lessons all Malaysians have learnt from the last election? BN is a monster of our own making. They downfall of BN was mainly caused by the snobbish and arrogant” leaders within.

The victory of Pakatan Harapan is a wake-up call for both political coalitions as voters have shown they have already woken up from their deep sleep of almost 60 years. They are called Malaysians from now onwards.

Voters must learn from their past mistakes which is not to blindly and emotionally attach themselves to any political party. They must snub any political party that fails to perform their respective duties and implement their promises.

This country belongs to all Malaysians and is not owned by any political party or politician. As for the new government which is by Pakatan Harapan, their duties and promises must be delivered. No more wasting time and work must start now.

MPs and state assemblypersons must begin implementing their pledges to the voters in their respective constituencies. Based on the last report card, during the last term, only 60 percent of the respective MPs and state assemblypersons did actual work to help their respective constituents.

Others were merely being busy with accusing each other. We hope the new government will have their own Key Performance Index (KPI) marks for their respective MPs and assemblypersons as it will help the respective parties evaluate them for the next general election.
