The rice of commodities has been rising and will not stop. The economic situation is not good either. We all know it and the businessmen are worried.

Yet, the authorities always give the impression that every thing is okay. The country is sliding backwards and the government should know that the time for action is now. Do not waste time on small issues like by-elections, price control exercises and moral policing.

Issues of prime concerns are corruption, the efficiency of government servants and the integrity of the police force. Just go round the government offices and observe the way government servants do their work.

They are more active in chatting and jockeying for positions among themselves than concentrating on their work. And can we count on our police force?

All the above problems can be overcome if we start cleaning from the top. The 'wakil rakyat' and other politicians must set an example. Wakil rakyat must be credible people and well- respected. They should not be involved in corrupt practices.

Pak Lah has to address this. I dare say that Pak Lah will be highly respected if he acts now. We are not short of credible people who can be wakil rakyat to replace the corrupted ones. For each minister, there are at least 10 to 20 other Malaysians who are more capable and can do better. There is no need to recycle old ministers.
