The government's wise decision to ask policemen to stop the civil suits against complainants of their corruption is correct. Lately, we had been hearing of our men in blue harassing those who have made complaints against them.

This does not create a good climate for foreign investment or tourism if people think that they are not safe to conduct their business or enjoy their visits here. Locals, too, will be fed-up if they think that those in authority can intimidate them with the power that they possess.

We cannot be living in fear of enforcement officers who use the law to instill fear in the public to cover their own corruption. Public servants should be role models for others to follow and should lead clean and healthy lifestyles.

Whistle-blowers will also have second thoughts about exposing misdeeds of those in the public and private sectors if their head is going to be on the line. 'Deep Throats' who are willing to spill the beans on immoral and unethical should be encouraged in order to reduce graft and misuse of public funds both in the public and private sectors.

Legislation should be passed in Parliament to accord protection to these brave hearts who are willing to tell the truth about the misdeeds of the corrupt. They should be protected from harm to encourage others to take the same path.

One way or another, when whistleblowers are encourage to 'blow the whistle', less white-collar crime will be committed by those entrust with public funds.
